About Gopeshwar-Anusuiya devi/Atri Muni Ashram Trek

One of the most famous pilgrim places in Chamoli is the Anusuya Devi Temple, dedicated to goddess Sati. She was the wife of Atri Muni, a great sage and one of the Sapta Rishis (Sapta means seven and rishis mean sages in Sanskrit). It is said that Devi Anusuya fully dedicated to her husband. It is located 30 kms away from Chopta. It is located in the lap of Himalayas which attracts the pilgrims.

Anusuya Devi Temple & Atri Muni Ashram is located in In Gopeshwar (Set amidst thick forest, Anusuya devi temple is situated 12km far from Gopewshwar town (5km trek from Mandal village). A massive waterfall enroute Atrimuni Ashram trek is a sight to behold).

 

Day 1

Arrive at GMVN Gopeshwar Explore the beauty of the local surroundings and the village
Dinner (Veg) and Rest -

Day 2

Drive to Mandal Village (17 km) Trek to Anusuiya Devi temple (4.5 km trek)
Lunch (packed) (veg) Trek to Atri Muni Ashram (optional) (1.5 km trek)
Return to GMVN Gopeshwar Dinner (Veg) and enjoy the rest of the evening with roaring bonfire

Trek to Base Camp, taking plenty of time to acclimatize and to visit the Sherpa families and support facilities that will become increasingly important during our expedition. We will spend several days in Namche ahead of most trekkers, and will visit the monasteries in Tengboche and Pangboche.
