Gaurikund is the point where road to Kedarnath ends and an easy trek of 14km commence. Gaurikund is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand and northern states of India. Buses to Rishikesh and Srinagar are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Buses and Taxis to Gaurikund are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Srinagar,Chamoli etc. Gaurikund lies on National Highway 109 which connects Rudraprayag with Kedarnath

Gauri Kund

Gaurikund is the commencement point of the trek of 16 kms to the sacred shrine of Kedarnath. It is situated at an elevation of 1,982 mts above sea level. The place is named after Goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva and a temple Gauri is also situated here.
The place offers vivid greenery with Vasuki Ganga flowing from below. It is located amidst lush green forest offering serene environs and panoramic views.

Sonprayag is a place of religious significance located in-route to Kedarnath Dham. Triyuginarayan is a well-known Hindu pilgrimage located in the Rudraprayag district. This picturesque village is perched at an elevation of 1,980 and offers panoramic views of snow covered mountains of the beauteous Garhwal region. The architecture of this temple resembles to that of Badrinath shrine. Triyugi Narayan is the village where the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place.

Vasuki Tal

Vasuki Tal is a glacial lake situated at an impressive altitude of 14,200 feet above sea level in Kedarnath Dham. It can be reached by a 7km moderate trek from Kedarnath. The lake is located at an altitude of 4,150 mts above sea level surrounded by Himalayan peaks. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Vishnu bathed in this lake at the auspicious Raksha Bandhan festival. Hence, it was named as Vasuki Tal.
